My name is Robyn Lukan and I am a first year teacher. I convocated from the University of Regina in June of this year I have experience teaching grades 7 and 8. I have been hired by Horizion School Division as the Grade 7 Classroom Teacher, and could not be more thrilled! Grade 7 is my favourite grade to teach. I am very excited for the school year to begin.
I pre-interned in a grade 8 classroom at Bert Fox Community High School in Fort Qu’Appelle, SK. This proved to be a very rewarding experience for me. In my two weeks at the school I made some really great connections with the students. I worked primarily with 15 students and various teachers, allowing me to experience several ways of setting up a classroom.
I also pre-interned at Davin School in Regina, SK. I was placed in a grade 7/8 split, which was very beneficial for me as it is my only experience with a split class. I learned a lot in my three weeks at Davin. I found that the extra week made a big difference in building relationships, which is very important to me.
I interned at Lumsden Elementary School in a grade 7 class. I had an amazing experience that provided me with support, encouragement, challenges and lots of laughter. The staff and students were extremely welcoming, which I was very grateful for. Each year, the grade 7’s in Lumsden go on a 3 day, 2 night camping and canoe trip. I was definitely out of my element on the trip, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sharing the sense of accomplishment with the students was incredible!
I think I’ve known that I wanted to be a teacher since I was about 6 years old. It has always been a passion for me, and has constantly been at the back of my mind for as long as I can remember. Now, I am about to embark on the next chapter in my life and I’m so excited that I can share my passion for education with hundreds of future students.
